Description of the Project Management
A project organisation has been set up that will enable the creation of optimal conditions for effective integrated research and realisation of optimal synergy within the EUMITOCOMBAT consortium consisting of twenty-one participating scientific groups of twelve partner organisations located in nine different European countries.
The organisational structure is as follows:
Consortium Council
In the Consortium Council all the partner organisations are represented. The representatives of the twelve partner organisations are called the ‘core group members’. The Consortium Council will meet annually at a two-day conference to discuss progress and update the implementation plan, which will be presented by the Consortium Board and the Project Management Team. The Consortium Counsel is chaired by the project coordinator.
Consortium Board
The Consortium Board will be the scientific executive body within the consortium appointed by the Consortium Counsil and will have the final responsibility for the project. The Consortium Board will take the final decisions on the implementation plan as presented by the Project Management Team. The Consortium Board will be present at the quarterly official meetings of the Project Management Team. The Consortium Board consists of three members of the Consortium Council: dr. M. Zeviani, prof. H.T. Jacobs and prof. dr. J.A.M. Smeitink. The Consortium Board will be chaired by the project coordinator prof. dr. J. Smeitink.
Project Management Team
The EUMITOCOMBAT consortium Project Management Team will be a multidisciplinary team responsible for the scientific, legal, ethical, financial and overall organisational management of this ambitious Integrated Project. The Project Management Team will be chaired by the project coordinator.
The four scientific Node integration managers will manage the nodes defined in the scientific programme and ensure the integration between them.
Management Support Team
The Management Support Team will support the Project Management Team and will consist of a pool of internal personnel and pre-selected subcontractors that can provide specialist legal/IPR related expertise, FP6 management support and IT consultants when required. Furthermore the Financial Administration and Secretarial Support will be a part of the Management Support Team and is available within the project coordinator's organisation.
Scientific & Ethical Advisory Committee
The Scientific & Ethical Advisory Committee (SEAC) is an independent advisory body open for consultation by the Project Management Team and the Consortium Board. Annually the SEAC evaluates the project progress on scientific, ethical, social and legal aspects and will report to the Consortium Board and the Consortium Counsel. The SEAC plays also an active role in the project by developing research and monitoring activities related to ethical, social, legal and gender aspects.
